More about Numbers

There exist other number systems as well, apart from Hindu-Arabic (the one we use in general). One such commonly used number system is the Roman numeral system. In this chapter, we will learn to

  • read, write and convert numbers from Hindu-Arabic to Roman numerals and vice-versa.

  • show how the Roman numeration system is built from basic numerals for 1,5, 10 and 50

We will also learn the concept of estimating numbers by rounding off. After reading this topic we will be able to:

     1. approximate by rounding off to nearest ten, hundred, thousand;
     2. estimate quantities of given objects
